Responsibilities

Work closely with Silicon System Engineers on the following types of projects involving VI Chip power components:

  • Design and prototyping of new demonstration boards and reference designs.
  • Troubleshooting and optimizing new demonstration boards and reference designs.
  • Evaluating and characterizing new IC using test boards.
  • Performing system level testing on power supplies implemented with VI Chips.

Maintain VI Chip applications laboratory equipment and bench complement, keeping records of calibrations, researching and testing new equipment, and managing the stock of components in the lab.

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by:

  • Aiding in the generation of new schematics and PCB designs
  • Maintenance and release of BOMs (Bill of Material) for new demonstration systems and reference designs and working closely with either a contract manufacturer or operations during the initial build of an applications board.
  • Building prototype boards and circuits for new systems and perform initial testing and evaluation to validate new designs against the schematic and PCB layout.
  • Performing system test procedures and document results.
  • Generating complete reports of the results of experiments, troubleshooting and testing performed on the bench and utilize this data to improve the design and utility of the Applications Engineering tools and products.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates degree or 5+ years experience as technician, technical aide, or engineering aide for Engineering Aide position
  • Associates degree and 5+ years experience or 10+ years experience as technician, technical aide, or engineering aide. (Bachelor’s degree a plus) for Senior Engineering Aide position
  • Familiarity with lab equipment used in the characterization and design of power supplies and systems (oscilloscopes, DMMs, Network Analyzers, EMI analyzers, loads, sources, etc.)
  • Proficiency soldering small surface mount components with good accuracy and cleanliness. IPC J-STD-001 soldering certification a plus.
  • Ability to methodically approach tasks and projects, manage time, and document results and procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshooting skills with basic power systems a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAD and office tools (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc., especially Altium)  a plus
  • Familiarity with design and testing associated with Intel Power Delivery specifications (especially VR12.0 or later) a plus
