Candidate will be a critical member of a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineering team focused on producing industry leading advanced power component solutions used in commercial, server, AI, automotive and other specialty products. Candidate will work Vicor legacy manufacturing processes and will become involved in the manufacturing process scale up, production release of new modules, and qualification of Power System products built using latest generation of Vi-Chip and CM-Chip based packages. 

Responsibilities

  • On a day to day basis monitor line production performance and when required take immediate corrective action working with operators, supervisors and line techs to trouble shoot process problems.
  • Hands on with equipment, including occasional maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Work independently as well as lead cross-functional development teams.
  • Hands on responsibility for equipment set up, qualifying and programming for solder paste printers, automated fluid dispense equipment, inspection equipment, pick place machines, FIFO, pin insertion and reflow ovens.
  • Implement and manage real time SPC and utilize Six Sigma tools such as PFMEAs to implement meaningful process controls.
  • Supports the organizational goal of Automotive Readiness in preparation for IATF 16949 Certification.
  • Maximizes productivity by analyzing process controls and capabilities, layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
  • Monitor line yield and scrap short term and long term issues and working with operators, supervisors, line technicians,  design engineers, test engineers, and quality engineering to conduct root cause analysis with appropriate corrective action and  preventative actions to improve yields.
  • Actively identify and lead cost reduction initiatives including new innovating manufacturing processes and product packaging improvements.
  • Initiate and approve manufacturing documentation such as ECO’s

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.  Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ relevant professional engineering experience
  • Good hands on engineering skills and ability to work on production equipment
  • Demonstrated capability in applying SPC, Six Sigma, PFMEA, etc.
  • Prior hands on experience with high speed equipment such as SMT assembly and automated electronics assembly including programming and implementing SPC for these processes.
  • Solid skills in problem solving, statistics, manufacturing quality, and quality principles
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems
  • Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
