Vicor is expanding to vertically integrate core printed circuit board operations.  As such, we are seeking a candidate to assist in establishing the wet chemistry process lab to support all plating fabrication operations. This role will require that the candidate spend the first 3-4 months offsite at a strategic partner in Charlestown, NH training on the processes and equipment to be run on Vicor product.  The candidate will then be responsible for managing the setup of the equipment and processes back at the Vicor facility located in Andover, MA.


  • Responsible for establishing the Andover wet process chemical lab to support all fabrication process flows
    • Analytical equipment selection necessary to support all process analysis
    • Meet w/ associated vendor and define specs on process equipment
    • Work w/ procurement to negotiate pricing and warranty
  • Train in NH for 3-4 months to understand all analytical methods to support Vicor fabrication processes
    • Document all methods, frequencies, etc and transfer back to the Vicor lab
  • Select and implement software to support
    • Chemical analysis with add/decant controls
    • SPC on process baths
  • Establish daily sampling protocol for all process lines
    • Work hands on performing all required analysis.
  • Work with Vicor safety compliance to ensure all required SDS are onsite relative to analytical chemistries/equipment
  • Interview, hire and direct oversight of 2-3 support technicians across (2) shifts

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or associated discipline
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ working in Printed Circuit Board Fabrication laboratory support or equivalent industry
  • Ability to perform and use:
    • Titration analysis
    • Chromatography, mass spec
    • UV/Vis, FTIR
    • ICP, Graphite furnace, AA, XRF
    • Thermal mechanical equipment - DSC, DMA, TMA, TGA
    • CVS and/or Hull cell analysis
    • Cross section capability
  • Printed circuit quality analysis
    • Cross section capability
    • Solderability
  • Demonstrated capability in applying SPC, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, etc.
  • Solid skills in problem solving, statistics, manufacturing quality, and quality principles
  • Ability to successfully train production personnel
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems
  • Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
