Vicor demonstrates how modular power solutions differentiate advanced AI and automotive designs at Japan’s Techno Frontier 2020
Vicor will be at Techno Frontier 2020 - 35th Power System Japan from April 8 to 10. Vicor will be highlighting modular power solutions for AI and Automotive in addition to several other industries. Today more than ever, designs are requiring higher power delivery within constrained form factors. Vicor high-density and high-efficiency module power solutions address these needs across various industries. In addition to technology and products demonstrated, there will also be mini-presentations conducted within the Vicor booth on leading power topics.
Vicor technology experts will be available to discuss advanced point-of-load, lateral and vertical power delivery solutions for powering the latest sub-1-volt and sub-0.5-volt AI processor directly from 48V at peak current levels of over 1000 amps. For systems still utilizing 12V power delivery at the point-of-load or adding 48V AI accelerator cards to an existing 12V power infrastructure, Vicor will demonstrate the latest additions to its bidirectional 48V and 12V fixed-ratio converters, plus new regulated 48V-to-12V power modules. In addition, on display will be the Vicor and 3M immersion liquid cooling system. Vicor has partnered with 3M to demonstrate this advanced data center cooling technique and its benefits. Some of the most advanced processors to date operate in immersion cooling, eliminating the thermal limitations of traditional air-cooled systems.

Today’s hybrid and electric vehicles are far advanced from the traditional 12V based combustion engine vehicles. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) utilize a 48V battery system complementing the 12V system and pure electric vehicles (EV) can utilize 12V, 48V, 400V and even 800V supporting various powertrain and driver features. Vicor will highlight higher density and lighter weight power solutions including the BCM6135 providing 400V direct to 48V at 3KW and over 98% efficiency in a 61 x 35 x 7.4mm module. In addition, a mini-seminar will be dedicated to maximizing 48V distribution within a vehicle utilizing the Vicor NBM2317 providing 1kW in a 23x17x5.2mm package.
