Fundamentals of DC-DC system design & charge/discharge solutions

Presented by Koji Nishikawa, Senior Application Engineer, Vicor

Koji will introduce the recently released DCM3717 and DCM3735 regulated converters with a maximum output of 2kW and converting from 48V to 12V, as well as examples of compact applications in combination with converters that will be released soon. He will also explain the BCM series of high-voltage fixed-ratio bus converters and application examples including charging and discharging.

In the second part, as the first in a basic course on designing DC-DC systems consisting of modules, he will discuss the load system required to achieve the target functions and performance, and the design process for supplying power to that load from a power source. This is recommended for beginners who want to learn the basics of power supply design, or for those who want to refresh their knowledge.

After earning a bachelor's degree from Tokyo University of Science, Koji gained over 26 years of experience at semiconductor and electronics manufacturers such as ROHM Semiconductor and ON Semiconductor before joining Vicor in 2022. Currently, as a Senior Applications Engineer, Koji is involved in the development of cutting-edge power systems with customers in a wide range of applications including industrial equipment, robotics, and aerospace and defense.
