Vicor presents the weight-saving benefits of DC-DC modular converters for EV applications

Effective implementation of active roll control or suspension systems have demanding power requirements—fast transient speeds and high performance are essential to optimize these applications. The current best in class technologies require the addition of either batteries or super capacitors to comply with these system needs, and the resulting systems add weight and consume package space in the vehicle.

Space and weight saving power systems for active suspension systems

Presented by Greg Green, Director, Automotive Customer Programs, Vicor

Effective implementation of active roll control or suspension systems have unique requirements for power to operate, needing power supplies with fast reaction times and high power capability. The current best in class technology require the addition of either batteries or super capacitors to comply with these system needs, and the resulting systems add weight and consume package space in the vehicle.  In this presentation a new benchmark technology will be demonstrated which leverages the highest power density DC-DC conversion modules and best in class power transient capabilities to support active chassis systems. These solutions reduce the power system package space requirements by over 60%, and reduce weight by over 50%.
